Tour and EP - June 28, 2010

Well it is all systems go for the tour and EP now. The EP is off being pressed and produced and the last date of the tour has been filled.Yay!

We are also doing a little interview and acoustic set for the 2 lochs radio station in Gairloch on 23rd July at 5.15pm before our gig at The Old Inn. That should be fun. We plan to keep a video diary and I'll let you all know how to access that as we go along. Many thanks to Hilary who is letting us stay at her flat in Ballater for a few days particularly since that is the time that Calum the drummer will be 20 and it will also be his 1 year anniversary of being with the band. Party?!!

Take care all.

update on EP - June 5, 2010

Well, we have heard the rough mix of 4 songs. Disappointingly the newest song just isn't there yet. It's to do with the structure and some of the parts not quite gelling. We will re record it at another session, I think. Very useful to hear that. We're happy with the feel and energy of the other 3 so they need further mixing as the bass frequencies are pretty much missing. Because we are a 3 piece, the bass and drums need to be quite prominent in the mix. That's what we are like live and I'm keen for it to feel that way on the EP.There are another 5 to hear and mix and Calum (drummer) and Scott(bass) are going into the studio on Wednesday to lend their ears to the process. Callum (guitar) and me can't make it but I have complete trust in the guys. Keep you posted! Axx

The Reeltime Session - May 28, 2010

Well, we've had our day in the studio. After everything was set up the guys had about 3 hours to record a good take of 9 songs. Playing live in a studio setting is a real psychological challenge. If one of you makes a mistake, then you all have to start again. I think the guys did wonderfully well as we recorded all 9. They will feel and sound live with all the little idiosyncrasies that goes with that but I feel they caught enough of "us" to produce an EP. The ethos behind this is to do what we do live, to be as honest as possible with the tracks. I recorded all my vocals but 2 in one take and I genuinely haven't listened to them back. I have to live with what we got. If what we have isn't good enough, then we don't have an EP. I'm looking forward to hearing the first rough mix which we should get next week. I'll keep you posted. Annettexx

Recording new EP - April 22, 2010

Well the good news is that the date is set for recording the new live EP with some great new songs. The 27th May, the band are going into Reeltime Studios to play a live set. The recording will be available before the tour. Oh and we hope you like the new images on the site. Cheers. x

Last minute gig - April 3, 2010

Well, there we were, last night, having a last minute run through with Scott for his debut gig tonight at The Wee Red Bar when I get a phone call from Lynette from Storm in a D cup. Do we want to play a gig in an hours time. As we are rock n rollers through and through we said yes. More impressively, Scott said yes and we did it. Not going to lie the sound was not good, didn't get a sound check and there wasn't a lot of people there. The people who were, really enjoyed the set, however, and Scott was astounding! It bodes really well for tonight. Special mention to calum, the drummer who hurt his hip twisting to accommodate a different kit with 2 bass drums. What a trooper. Hope you guys can come and check Scott out tonight. Annette xx Love you all....

New Photos soon - March 29, 2010

Hi all. Thanks to Alan Rennie for taking some band photos last night during a rehearsal. We are looking forward to getting them up on the site so you can see what Scott, the new bass player looks like. Take Care all

Welcome - March 26, 2010

Hi, just a wee note to welcome Scott Waterson to the band as bass player. Duncan has moved onto pastures new and we wish him well. Scott is a student at Stevenson College Edinburgh along with Calum Gardner, the band's drummer. Annette is their teacher for band performance so that makes the dynamic quite interesting...

Update on Live and Unsigned - February 6, 2010

Hi all, thought you'd be interested in the update from Annette and the band. They found out (by chance) that in the regional final of the competition, if they got through, they would be required to play a cover version. Bearing in mind that the point of forming the band was to play the songs written by Annette and Callum, the band were not prepared to compromise and have withdrawn. I spoke to Annette and she said " One of things that has come out of all the work that I have done researching the music business is that I really do believe you shouldn't compromise on what is important to you. Derek Sivers has said this and you can read in my blog on this site my thoughts on the subject" Never mind.It was not the right competition for nobody else. This band is prepared to do it the hard way....Mark.

Tour dates confirmed - February 3, 2010

Okay, The first date is confirmed on Skye and we are building it up from here. I also wanted to pass on the band's thanks for another great gig at The Wee Red Bar on Saturday. If you missed the last couple of gigs, you will have been surprised at the 8 new songs played. The feedback is great on the new stuff. I know it's moving away from blues and more firmly into rock territory. I was talking to Annette about it and she says " you can't help what you write. The influence of new members in the band is a big part on what you produce and Callum and I are really happy with the direction we are going in"

It was also great to see some new faces in the audience and hopefully we keep the trend going as the audience is building nicely. Remember, if you like the band, please tell your friends. You guys are the ones who can make things happen. So on Saturday, the band audition for Live and Unsigned. Lets see how it goes. I'll Keep you posted. Oh and to help you guys stay interested I am on the hunt for a different venue to play. We will still be coming to The Wee Red Bar but it's nice to shake things up a bit. Thanks for all your support. Mark

Welcome to Calum Gardner - August 13, 2009

The band are delighted to welcome Calum gardner as their permanent drummer. Calum is a fantastically talented young drummer and will add energy and enthusiasm to the band. There is also the added advantage that he brings down the average age of the band quite a bit! Callum (note the 2 'ls') says he has a guitar that is nearly twice Calum's(note the 1 l) age. Alba x
